Why Local SEO Matters for Suffolk and Norfolk Businesses
Why Local SEO Matters for Suffolk and Norfolk Businesses
If a potential customer in Lowestoft searches "web designer near me" or "plumber in Suffolk" — does your business appear? If not, you're invisible to some of your most valuable prospects.
Local SEO is the process of optimising your online presence so you appear in local search results. Unlike paid advertising, the traffic it generates is free and sustainable.
The Google Business Profile is non-negotiable
If you haven't claimed and optimised your Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business), that's the single most impactful thing you can do today. It's free, and it directly affects whether you appear in the local map pack — those prominent results that appear for location-based searches.
Make sure yours has:
- Accurate name, address, and phone number
- Your service area set correctly (Suffolk, Norfolk, etc.)
- Recent photos
- A consistent stream of reviews
On your website: location pages matter
Generic service pages don't rank locally. A page titled "Web Design Services" will struggle to rank for "web design Suffolk". A page titled "Web Design for Suffolk & Norfolk Businesses" — with relevant local content — has a much better chance.
This is why I build location keywords into the structure of every site I create.
Content builds authority over time
Publishing helpful, relevant content (like this blog post) signals to Google that your site is a trusted resource in your field. It also gives you something valuable to share on social media and in emails.
You don't need to post every week. Even monthly, consistent content makes a difference over time.
